Liverpool monitoring Lorenzo Melgarejo
The Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is closing in on the signing of Paraguayan International Melgarejo on a season long-loan deal with an option to make the move a permanent one.
Lorenzo Melgarejo who plys his trade for Primeira Liga giants Benfica would require a work permit if he is to sign for the Anfield side and would add extra pressure on first-choice Jose Enrique for a starting spot at Anfield.
Liverpool are expexted to arrive at the Merseyside today following the successful expedition in the Far East, which concluded with a 3-0 victory over Thailand yesterday, and negotiations with the Primeira Liga side at set to commence.
Liverpool are expected to pay a loan fee in the region of £400k as part of the deal, for the player. The talented star is also being monitored by Premier League rivals Arsenal and Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
