PFA chief backing for Luis Suarez

The Professional Footballer's Association chief Gordon Taylor has backed wantaway Liverpool striker Luis Suarez claiming that the club should let the player leave.

The Uruguay international had earlier revealed that Liverpool are refusing to honor a clause in his contract wherein he can move to a new club if an offer in excess of £40 million is made if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Arsenal had their offer rejected by Anfield officials as they remain adamant over keeping hold of their star striker beyond this summer.

"What is quite clear is that an offer in the region of £40m has been turned down and if Luis Suarez is determined to leave you don't see any sense in a player being where he doesn't want to be," Taylor told Sky Sports News.

"On the other hand we've a short period of time in the window and if you're going to lose a player as good as Luis Suarez you need time to replace him and you need good money and no doubt that will be on Liverpool's mind."
