Arsenal close in on deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo

Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo will head to London for talks with Arsenal after the Gunners reportedly agreed a fee with the Bavarian giants for a transfer. The Gunners have been chasing the player for most of the summer and it is understood that a £14m deal has been agreed.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been in contact with Pep Guardiola and Bayern representatives for over two weeks regarding Gustavo, who has fallen out of favour at the Allianz Arena.


Chelsea and German side Wolfsburg were believed to be in the race for the defensive midfielder, but Arsenal have the upper hand as they are set to guarantee regular first team football. Chelsea, on the other hand, have already told Michael Essien that he will be back in the first team this year.
