Liverpool ready surprise move for Shay Given

Liverpool are to launch a surprise move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given. The Irish shotstopper has been playing second fiddle to Brad Guzan at the Villans since last season and is ready to quit his current club in search of a new challenge.

Liverpool currently have Simon Mignolet on the books but Brendan Rodgers could strike a deal to sign Given on loan until the end of the season. Rodgers is reportedly concerned that he does not have enough experience should the Belgian number 1 suffer an injury this year.


Given has been told that he can leave on loan for the season and a deal could be agreed this week.
