Joleon Lescott eyes Man City stay

Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott is hopeful that with a spell of good form, he can persuade manager Manuel Pellegrini that the defender is worth a new contract at the Etihad Stadium.

With Lescott's contract due to expire at the end of this season, the centre back is desperate to put pen to paper on a fresh deal that will keep him at City for the remainder of his playing career.

"I have expressed a number of times that nothing more would please me than to sign an extension. If that negotiating ever happens I will be there with my pen ready to sign," said Lescott.

Lescott has so far been an important member of the first team squad this season with injuries to club captain Vincent Kompany improving Lescott's chances of regular playing time.
