Mesut Ozil signing delights Arsenal defender Mertesacker

Per Mertesacker is looking forward to linking up with his new team mate Mesut Ozil at Arsenal. The German playmaker, Ozil, joined the Gunners on transfer deadline day from Real Madrid, signing a five year contract.

Mertesacker and Ozil are currently on international duty together and will arrive in England on Thursday evening for Arsenal training.


Mertesacker has shed some light on his relationship with the playmaker: "I know him quite well. We spent two years together at Werder Bremen so I think that Arsene Wenger will get the best out of him.


"I think he will fit in. He suits us and we're really looking forward to playing with him and to be his team-mate."
