PSG vice chairman wants Zlatan stay

Paris St Germain vice chairman Nasser al-Khelaifi has expressed his desire to keep star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the club for many more years to come.

The Sweden international has been in phenomenal form for the Ligue 1 champions last season as he guided them to the domestic title. However, the future of Ibrahimovic has come under the scanner following the arrival of former Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

The 31 year old was linked with a move away this summer but Nasser al-Khelaifi has insisted that he intends to keep him at the club for long.

Speaking to L'Equipe, al-Khelaifi said: "Ibrahimovic is the soul of the club, just like Thiago Silva and now Edinson Cavani.

"He is a key element of PSG. Keeping him here as long as possible is very important."

The PSG vice chairman also had good words to say about the recently departed Mamadou Sakho and insisted that he would always be welcomed back.

He added: "Sakho was the baby of the club. I didn't want him to leave but we had to understand he was scared to miss the World Cup if he would not play enough here.

"He's left now and the clubs door will always be open to him."
