Chelsea lead race to sign German midfielder Sami Khedira

Chelsea are reportedly leading the race to capture the signature of Germany and Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, as per TuttoMercato.

The German international is currently unsettled with Los Blanco following the arrival of new manager Carlo Ancelloti during the summer, and has seen his involvement with the first team restricted following the signing of Asier Illarramendi from Real Sociedad. 

Khedira could be the perfect player to fit into the Blues defensive midfield department ahead of the likes of Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel, and the La Liga giants are ready to sell the player as the club plan for a busy winter transfer window.

Real Madrid currently find themselves in third place in the La Liga, having slumped to a home defeat against Atletico Madrid recently.
