Man City eye move for Paolo Cannavaro

Manchester City are apparently regarded as the only club in the race to sign Napoli defender Paolo Cannavaro in January.

Italian outfit Lazio had been tipped to make a move for the talented Italian centre-back, but the player's agent Gaetano Fedel denied talks of a move to the Capital club.


Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is keen on bolstering his backline options during the New Year, and considers the Napoli skipper as the perfect foil to suit his requirements.


Cannavaro has barely featured for the Serie A giants this season, following the arrival of manager Rafael Benitez and this has brought up speculation that he could be on his way out of Stadio San Paolo in the winter transfer window.
