Newcastle considering Martin Harnik transfer move
Austrian international winger Martin Harnik is a target for Newcastle United. Alan Pardew and chief scout Graham Carr have been monitoring the 26-year-old playing for his club VfB Stuttgart. The Toon Army could make a January transfer move for the VfB number 7.
Harnik has impressed since arriving at VfB Stuttgart from Werder Bremen in 2010 and is now an important member of Austria's national team. Despite his country failing to qualify for the World Cup next year in Brazil, Harnik proved to be one of Austria's best players throughout qualification. The winger has scored 10 goals in 41 games for his country, whilst also scoring 34 league goals for the German side since his arrival.
Newcastle have been monitoring Harnik for some time and with Pardew's side desperate to add new players to their squad in January, a transfer offer is expected for the Austrian. The player is valued at around 7.5 million Euros by his club and has a further two and a half years remaining on his contract at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
The free scoring winger has also hinted that he would one day like to move to England, having previously been linked with a transfer to both Liverpool and Everton.
