Chelsea winger out of World Cup squad with injury

Chelsea winger Estevao has been formally left out of Brazil's provisional 55-man squad for the upcoming World Cup in North America.

The Brazilian had a good debut season with the Blues in the Premier League, but his campaign ended early after a hamstring problem.

It was initially predicted that he would return in time for the World Cup, but that is no longer the case, with Carlo Ancelotti leaving him out of the squad with Brazil this summer.

Estevao will be bitterly disappointed by the decision, but the onus will now be on making a smooth recovery before the 2026/27 season starts.

Chelsea will have several key players at the World Cup, including Pedro Neto and Joao Pedro. The latter is guaranteed to make the Brazil squad.

Those at the World Cup will be given an extended break from pre-season and Estevao has the chance to become a regular starter from the off next term.
