Man Utd deny reports of Robin Van Persie transfer request

Manchester United have denied reports that Robin van Persie has requested a transfer away from Old Trafford in the January transfer window. The Dutch international had reportedly handed in a written request after being rumoured to have fallen out with the club's manager, David Moyes.

Mark Lawrenson had told reporters that he had heard reports that Robin van Persie had handed in a transfer request, however Man Utd were quick to respond, with the club's manager Moyes telling reporters after the 1-0 home defeat to Newcastle: "That is absolute nonsense.


"I don’t know what harder or tougher word I could say but that’s as good as I’ve got."


United have slumped to two home defeats in a row, leaving David Moyes concerned for his own future as the club's manager and van Persie reportedly very unhappy at the club's performances so far this year.
