Aston Villa keen on Steven Defour signing
Aston Villa have apparently declared their interest in Porto midfielder Steven Defour, according to the player's agent.
Defour's agent Paul Stefani has revealed that his client is looking at the prospect of leaving the Primeira Liga champions in the winter transfer window, as he aims to play first-team football on a regular basis in order earn himself a berth in the Belgian national side for next summer's World Cup finals in Brazil.
"Aston Villa have let it be known that they are interested in Defour," Paul Stefani said. "It is not yet concrete, and it is the same story for other clubs that I can't name."
"Steven is certainly open to joining an attractive club on condition that they offer him more playing time than he has at present.
"He's not unhappy at Porto but he needs to be playing regularly with an eye on the World Cup."
The 25-year-old joined Porto from Belgian giants Standard Liege in the summer of 2011.
