Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is hoping to wrap up a deal to secure the signing of Dutch striker Luuk De Jong by the end of the week. The Toon Army are ready to splash £10 million on the Borussia Monchengladbach front man this month.

De Jong remains their top priority in January's transfer window and Alan Pardew and club owner Mike Ashley have been discussing potential targets should they decide to sell Yohan Cabaye to Paris St Germain. De Jong has enjoyed a successful time in the Bundesliga since his move from FC Twente in 2012, scoring six goals in 26 games for the Germans.

Newcastle are hoping to secure a move for the striker prior to next week's game against Norwich City. It is understood that Monchengladbach are currently holding out for a larger transfer fee but a deal will be wrapped up sooner rather than later.

The Toon Army are also ready to sell Papiss Cisse to Turkish side Galatasaray or Trabzonspor.
