Nigel Winterburn: 'Arsenal have to win against Man Utd'

Arsenal Legend Nigel Winterburn has insisted that the Gunners must prove their title winning credentials by beating Manchester United at the Emirates on Wednesday.

Winterburn feels Arsenal are in a must win situation if they are to have any hopes of lifting the Premier League crown at the end of the season, following their 5-1 away drubbing at the hands of Liverpool on Saturday.

"Arsenal have to win, it's quite simple. They've got to show some character, they've got to beat a Manchester United team that's not in great form," the 50-year-old said.

"They have some fantastic players but they're not playing to their full potential. If Arsenal don't win then everybody will write them off.

"I believe over the next couple of seasons Arsenal will win a trophy. It may be too early for them this season but it looks as if things are moving forward in the club, rather than going reverse as it has done over the last three seasons."

The Gunners are currently second in the league standings following their loss at Liverpool, while United are seventh.
