Chelsea boss dismisses Javier Zanetti link

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that the club had made no contact with Inter Milan's legendary midfielder Javier Zanetti over a summer switch.

The 40-year-old veteran, who played under the Portuguese coach during their time at the Nerazurri, was linked with a move to the Blues with the prospect of being offered a player-coach contract in the summer transfer window.

However, Mourinho has played down the speculation by insisting that the former Argentine international will see out the rest of his career with the Serie A giants.

"There was no offer for Zanetti," Mourinho said. "It is impossible to see [him] with another team that is not Inter."

Zanetti has been at the Nerazzurri since 1995.
