Feyenoord name Koeman’s successor


Feyenoord have announced that Fred Rutten will take charge of the club at the start of next season.



Rutten, 51 will sign a one year deal at De Kuip and will replace Ronald Koeman who had earlier announced that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.



Technical director Martin van Geel had this say about the appointment,



"As you know, after Koeman we wanted another experienced Dutch top coach for the team. With all the demands we place on a training master is the list of names that you can create defined clearly. It is nice when you quickly and smoothly come to an agreement with someone who was very high on the list."



Fred Rutten is an experienced coach who has demonstrated the ability to make players better and teams are often attractive and good to play football. The club was therefore unanimously of the opinion that he is the right man for it.”



Rutten himself had this to say,



Ronald Koeman obviously has done a fantastic job there is, after lean years, The club in recent years, has really done great both financially and in sporting terms. We all feel and notice the club is to going on a successful path and I want to contribute my part."



"The coming weeks for Feyenoord are still important to always have about me. I don’t want to distract Ronald Koeman’s selection for that reason I stay so for the time being on the sidelines. "



Rutten apart from managing in the Netherlands has also managed in Germany with Schalke.
