Monaco join race for Ashley Cole

AS Monaco have reportedly joined the likes of Arsenal and Real Madrid in the race to secure the services of veteran defender Ashley Cole from Chelsea this summer.

Reports in France reveal that the talented left-back looks set to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, with manager Jose Mourinho unlikely to offer a new deal, and could be lured into a switch to the French giants.

 

Cole has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Mourinho, and has just appeared in 12 Premier League games so far, with right-sided full-back Cesar Azpilicueta often played at left-back.

 

Monaco, who look set to finish as runners-up to Paris Saint-Germain in their first campaign back in the Ligue 1, are understood to be keen on strengthening their defensive setup to come to level terms with Les Parisiens next season.
