Sunderland eye move for ex-Chelsea star

Sunderland are apparently plotting a summer bid for midfielder Raul Meireles from Turkish giants Fenerbahce this summer.

According to Football Direct News, the Black Cats boss Gus Poyet is understood to be keen on adding more steel to his midfield setup this summer, with the future of Jack Colback in doubt beyond the current season.

 

Former Chelsea and Liverpool midfielder Meireles is considered as one of the targets for the Black Cats, and a summer move could well be in the reckoning.

 

Black Cats secured their top-flight status at the expense of Norwich City, following a four-match winning streak, which included terrific away wins at Chelsea and Manchester United.
