Man Utd nearing deal for Luke Shaw?

Reports on Sunday morning suggest that Manchester United have made Southampton full back Luke Shaw their top transfer target this summer. The Saints are said to have already opened talks with United's management team.

Luke Shaw has burst on to the scene in recent seasons, impressing with a number of excellent performances at left back for the south coast side. Despite Mauricio Pochettino desperate to keep the wide defender at St Mary's, he will be powerless as his club' upper management are ready to sell. Shaw is hopeful that a deal will be wrapped up after the World Cup. Chelsea were also believed to have been in the race to sign the defender, but it appears Jose Mourinho wants to extend the stay of long serving full back Ashley Cole. United are hoping to agree a deal in the early summer to ensure that no further club makes a bid.
