Man City join race for Mehdi Benatia

Manchester City have reportedly joined Chelsea in the race for the services of Mehdi Benatia from AS Roma this summer.

The talented Moroccan international has enjoyed a stunning debut season at the Capital club, and is considered to have attracted attention from the likes of Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City in recent weeks.

 

However, French newspaper L’Equipe claims that the Citizens have expressed their interest in the 27-year-old, with manager Manuel Pellegrini seeking a perfect defensive partner for skipper Vincent Kompany next season.

 

Benatia has played a crucial role in Roma's defence this season, with the club conceding just 24 goals in 37 Serie A games.
