Chelsea keen on signing Rafael Varane as David Luiz replacement

Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing French defender Rafael Varane from Real Madrid, with the imminent departure of David Luiz to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The 21-year-old has failed to get enough chances in the first-team under manager Carlo Ancelloti this season, and The Guardian claims that Jose Mourinho is now keen on having a reunion with the talented defender.

 

Adding to this, the Blues will make the move to strengthen their defensive setup after allowing Luiz to leave the club for Paris Saint-Germain for what is likely to be record transfer for a defender.

 

Varane joined Madrid from Lens in the summer of 2011.
