Javier Mascherano signs new Barcelona contract

Argentinian midfielder Javier Mascherano has agreed terms on a new contract with Barcelona. There had been some suggestion that the former West Ham and Liverpool star would be quitting the Camp Nou in July.

Despite suggestions that Napoli were winning the race to sign the 29-year-old, Barcelona's new coach Luis Enrique has decided to offer the defensive midfielder a long term contract worth 125,000 Euros per week.

The player has put pen to paper on a four year contract at Barca, the club he joined back in the summer of 2010 from Premier League side Liverpool.
