Drogba wins BBC Award
Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has won the BBC London Footballer of the Year 2007 award ahead of Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas who came second, and Robbie Keane of Tottenham who came third.
29-year-old Ivory Coast international Drogba, who has followed Blues team-mates Frank Lampard, John Terry and Joe Cole in the last four years as the award winner, topped the Premiership goal-scoring chart last season. He scored the winning goals in the Carling Cup and FA Cup finals last term.
The official website of Chelsea quoted Pete Stevens, Sports Editor and Chairman of the selection panel, as saying: âDidier was the unanimous choice of the panel.
âHe has had an exceptional year proving that he was not only the leading striker in the Premier League, but also in Europe.
âHis thrilling style of play and spectacular goals played a large part in the Blues success in winning two Cup Finals.â
