Alexis Sanchez completes Arsenal move
Arsenal have signed Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona for a deal in the region of £30 million.
The representatives of the Chilean player have already reached North London to finalise the deal but Sanchez will remain in Barcelona until the Catalan club have sealed the transfer of Suárez from Liverpool, which is expected to happen before the weekend.
Sanchez was a key member of the Chile side that reached the World Cup last-16 stage and will join up with his new team-mates for Arsenal’s match against the New York Red Bulls on 26 July.
He reportedly rejected offers to move to both Liverpool and Juventus this summer.
It is an encouraging signing by Arsene Wenger as the FA Cup winners required a talented striker to support Frenchman Giroud.
Sanchez said of the move to Arsenal: “I’m so happy to be joining Arsenal, a club which has a great manager, a fantastic squad of players, huge support around the world and a great stadium in London. I’m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and to be playing for Arsenal in the Premier League and Champions League. I will give my best to Arsenal and want to make all the supporters happy.”
