Arsenal in talks to sign French star

Arsenal have reportedly opened up talks with Southampton over the potential transfer of Morgan Schneiderlin to the club.

The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is believed to be keen on signing a top-class midfielder this season, with the likes of Lars Bender and Sami Khedira considered as among the top targets.

However, the North London outfit have cooled their interest in Real Madrid's Sami Khedira due to his high wage demands. Goal.com claims that Gunners have began preliminary talks with the Saints over the French international, and are willing to pay a fee in the region of £15m for his signature.

In addition to this, it is understood that the South Coast club are unlikely to accept any offers below the £18m mark.
