Arshavin: maybe Newcastle

Andrei Arshavin, the talented 26-year-old Russian midfielder has spoken of his delight and honour of hearing of Newcastle's interest in bringing the Zenit playmaker to the Premiership. Newcastle have long been accredited with an interest in the midfield schemer.

"Of course I would like to play in England," Arshavin told the Daily Mirror.

"In Russia as well as England they are talking about Newcastle being interested in me and there has been no concrete offer.

"In principle if they made an offer I would be interested."

Arshavin is valued at around £7m and Aston Villa are also known to be monitoring.
