Atletico star set for Liverpool medical on Monday

Atletico defender Javier Manquillo looks set to undergo a medical at Liverpool on Monday, ahead of his temporary switch to the Merseyside giants.

The talented right-back has been linked with a switch to the Premier League in recent weeks, with Arsenal and Liverpool keen on signing him up.

However, with Arsenal having signed Calum Chambers from Southampton, the route was clear for Liverpool to seal a deal for the 20-year-old.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Spaniard will fly off to Merseyside on Monday to have a medical, and finalise his two-year loan move from Atleti.

It is understood that the Reds could buy him on a permanent deal after his loan spell, but the transfer fee would be based on the number of appearances he makes for the club during his two-year stay.
