Maarten Stekelenburg joins Monaco on loan
French club Monaco have wrapped up a deal for Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg on loan for the upcoming campaign. The shot stopper has been told he can leave Fulham for the next 12 months.
Stekelenburg failed to live up to expectations at Craven Cottage and decided to swap England for France and yesterday completed a deal to join Monaco. The French club had hoped to sign Victor Valdes but missed out on a deal for the Spanish keeper.
Monaco also hold first option on a permanent deal for Stekelenburg at the end of this campaign.
