Everton make bid for Ryan Shawcross

Everton have made an offer for Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross, according to a report.

The Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is aware of the club's defensive frailties following the 6-3 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea at Goodison Park during the weekend.

According to Goal.com, the Merseysiders have placed a bid for the England international, who is believed to be attracting interest from several clubs in Europe.

Shawcross has spent the past seven seasons at the Potters since his switch from Manchester United.
