League approves Cleverley's move to Aston Villa
The Premier League have approved English international Tom Cleverley’s proposed loan-move from Manchester United to Aston Villa today.
The 25-year-old joined the Villans for a season long loan in the dying hours of the summer transfer window yesterday, but the deal could not be ratified by the league’s board then due to the delayed paper work.
The Claret and Blues were earlier trying to land the player in a permanent deal, but the midfielder’s wage demands were too high for the Villa Park outfit.
Cleverley, who rose through the ranks with the Old Trafford club and has made 79 appearances since his competitive debut back in 2011 , was allowed to leave by newly appointed manager Louis van Gaal, as he hopes to rebuild the team after a drastic seventh place finish in the league last season.
He has earned 12 international caps for the Three Lions’ but was on stand-by for the team that played the World Cup in Brazil this year, failing to make it to the 23-man squad. He has also been omitted from Roy Hodgson’s squad for tomorrow’s friendly against Norway.
