Arsenal in for James McCarthy?

Arsenal could make a January offer for Everton midfielder James McCarthy, The Mail reports.

The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is understood to have identified the talented midfielder as the perfect fit to solve his defensive midfield issues.

According to the report, the North London outfit will test the Toffees' resolve in January by making a tempting offer in the region of £16m for the Republic of Ireland international.

McCarthy is currently out with a hamstring injury which he suffered during his side's 2-0 Europa League win against Wolfsburg last week.
