Liverpool want Benfica defender

Liverpool are eyeing a winter move for Benfica defender Maxi Pereira, The Mirror reports.

The Reds have had a below-par start to the league campaign, mainly due to their lapses in defence.

According to The Mirror, the Reds manager Brendan Rodgers could make a bid of around £4m for the Uruguay international as the club seek a replacement for outbound star Glen Johnson.

Liverpool are currently ninth in the Premier League.
