Star defender set for Arsenal transfer?

Arsenal could secure the services of one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League in January, The Mirror reports.

The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has shown keen interest in signing up a new central defender during the winter transfer window.

Having failed to cement a deal for Saint-Etienne's Loic Perrin, the Gunners could change their focus to making a move for Hammers defender Winston Reid.

According to The Mirror, the North London outfit could sign the New Zealand international for a bargain fee of just £3m this winter.

Arsenal host Stoke City in the Premier League on Sunday.
