Man Utd to reject Arsenal's Smalling bid

Manchester United are prepared to reject a summer bid from Arsenal for defender Chris Smalling, according to a report.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for the England international in the summer, with manager Arsene Wenger keen on signing a new central defender.

However, Manchester Evening News claims that the Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal has no plans of selling the former Fulham man, and will rebuff Arsenal's attempts to sign the 25-year-old.

Smalling joined the Mancunian giants from Fulham in the summer of 2010.
