Real Sociedad to open talks with Mikel Arteta

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta could be headed for a return to his former club Real Sociedad. The Spanish side are coached by Arteta's former boss at Everton, David Moyes.

Mikel Arteta has only just put himself back into contention for regular first team football at Arsenal having returned from injury, but the emergence of 23-year-old Francis Coquelin appears to have cast some doubt over the long term future of Spaniard Arteta.

Real Sociedad are reportedly set to contact Arteta's agent regarding a free transfer move back to La Liga in the summer, and the midfielder is said to be very interested.

The Spanish club are currently managed by David Moyes, who gave Mikel Arteta his big break in English football during Moyes' stint as the Everton boss.
