West Ham to sign Dimitri Payet?

West Ham United are hopeful of signing up Marseille forward Dimitri Payet this week, The Mirror reports.

The Hammers are believed to have made an improved offer, having seen their initial bid of £14m rebuffed by the Ligue 1 side.

According to The Mirror, the Hammers are hoping to land the winger's signature by this week, with the East London outfit set to begin their season on July 2 when they face Andorran side FC Lusitans in the Europa League first qualifying round.

Payet notched up 21 assists for Marseille last season.
