Aston Villa plan Asmir Begovic bid

Aston Villa are considered as favourites to land the services of Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic this summer.

The Bosnian international has stalled on talks over a contract extension, and this has led to speculation that he could seek fresh pastures elsewhere.

Premier League Champions Chelsea are believed to have targeted Begovic as the ideal replacement for outbound star Petr Cech, but The Sentinel claims that Villa are the driving seat in the player's pursuit.

It is added that Begovic could favour a switch to Villa Park, as he would not be willing to be an understudy to Thibaut Courtois at Chelsea.
