Jesse Lingard keen to impress at Man Utd

Manchester United youngster Jesse Lingard has insisted that he is keen on fighting for his place at Old Trafford rather than departing on loan this summer.

The 22-year-old struggled to make his way into the first-team last season, following a knee injury in United's opening game against Swansea City.

However, he was impressive during a loan spell with Championship side Derby County in the second half of last season, and is now aiming to be part of Louis van Gaal's plans next term.

"The manager has not said anything to me at the moment regarding my future," he told PA.

"I am looking to stay for the first couple of months and see what it's like. Obviously I would like to stay for the rest of the season, this is my club. This is where I want to stay."
