Asier Illarramendi rejects Liverpool

Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi has rejected the opportunity to join Liverpool in this summer's transfer window.

The Reds are understood to have made a £13.9m bid for the midfielder enforcer over the past week.

However, reports in Spain cite that the former Real Sociedad man has refused to discuss terms with the Merseyside outfit, as they have plenty of options for the holding midfield role.

Premier League rivals Arsenal have also shown interest in the 25-year-old midfielder.
