Aston Villa bid for Alessandro Diamanti

Aston Villa have reportedly made a formal offer for Italy international Alessandro Diamanti.

The 32-year-old currently plys his trade for Chinese outfit Guangzhou Evergrande, for whom he joined from Bologna last summer.

However, it has been rumoured that the talented playmaker is keen on a move back to Europe, having spent the second half of last season on loan with Fiorentina.

Gazzetta dello Sport cites that the Villains are in talks to sign up the experienced midfielder, who previously played in the Premier League with West Ham United duirng the 2009/10 season.
