Man Utd target Mario Gomez

Germany star Mario Gomez has emerged as a top transfer target for Manchester United in the winter transfer window.

United boss Louis van Gaal is expected to go on yet another spending spree in the New Year following the club's struggles infront of goal.

According to Calciomercato, the Dutchman is keen on bolstering his attacking options in January, with Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez topping his shortlist.

It is added that United would have to come up with a tempting bid for the German international, who is currently plying his trade on loan at Besiktas.

Gomez has scored nine goals in 13 appearances for the Turkish side this term.
