Napoli interested in Man Utd defender

Serie A side Napoli are said to be interested in signing Manchester United full-back Guillermo Varela in the winter transfer window.

The 22-year-old joined the Red Devils from Penarol in 2013, but had to wait until last weekend to make his league debut against West Ham United.

According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, the Naples side are preparing a January offer for the player's services. However, United are unlikely to cash in on the Uruguayan with most of the club's first-team players out injured.

United currently have the likes of Antonio Valencia, Marcus Rojo, Luke Shaw out with long-term injuries while Chris Smalling, Matteo Darmian and Phil Jones are deemed doubtful for the festive period.
