Arsenal Star set to land bumper contract

Arsenal's top performer Mesut Ozil is expected to be offered a record wage package to remain at the Emirates, sources reveal.

The German international has been one of the stand-out performers for the Gunners this season, and this is said to have attracted interest from former club Real Madrid.

Italian publication Tuttomercato reveals that Arsene Wenger's side consider the 27-year-old as a major part of their plans for the future, and are keen on securing his long-term stay.

The report adds that the World Cup winner will be offered a salary package of around £8.2m per year to extend his stay beyond his current contract which is due to expire in 2018.

Ozil has amassed an incredible tally of 13 assists in the Premier League this season.
