Alex Teixeira eager to join Liverpool

Shakhtar Donetsk star Alex Teixeira is desperate for a move to Liverpool during the ongoing transfer window.

The Brazilian midfielder has been strongly linked with a switch to England, with Liverpool and Chelsea being his main suitors.

Recent speculation has claimed that the Reds may come up with a fresh bid for the 26-year-old after their initial offer of £24m was turned down by the Ukrainian giants.

Teixeira has now added more spice to the transfer saga by suggesting that his potential switch to Anfield would be entirely dependent on Shakhtar's final decision.

"Liverpool are a huge club. So many great players have passed through there," he told NBC.

"I want to be there. But that is up to the club president now. I can only hope. It is frustrating. So now I'm just waiting, trying to be patient."

Shakhtar are holding out on a £40m fee for the talented attacker, who scored 26 goals in the first half of the season.
