Chelsea to sign Matt Miazga

Chelsea will complete the signing of defender Matt Miazga from New York Red Bulls before Monday's transfer deadline.

The 20-year-old is said to have attracted interest from several Premier League clubs this month, but it is the Blues who have won the chase for his services.

Blues boss Guus Hiddink has now revealed that the club will announce the player's arrival before the transfer window shuts on February 1.

"He is a promising player. We're not rushing but he will be one of the squad members for the future," Hiddink told reporters.

The central defender will have no difficulties in earning a work permit as he also holds a Polish passport.

Chelsea are also close to confirming the loan signing of Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato.
