William Carvalho extends Sporting stay

Liverpool and Arsenal target William Carvalho has penned a new deal to keep him at Sporting Lisbon until the summer of 2020.

The 23-year-old has been linked with several European clubs in recent years.

Carvalho's new contract includes a £35m buy-out clause amid rumoured transfer interest from the Premier League.

"I am very happy for the vote of confidence that Sporting CP have given me once more," he told the club's official website.

"This will motivate me even more to make sure I am at my best. I want to tell the fans that I am really happy with the contract until 2020 that I have signed and you can expect me to do by best."

Carvalho, who is mainly deployed as a holding midfielder, has earned 15 caps with the Portugal national side.
