Atletico hot on trail of Lukaku

Atletico Madrid are among the favourites to acquire the services of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku at the end of the season. The Belgian international has been in stunning form for the Toffees in spite of their dismal showing in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has developed into a world-class footballer since his permanent switch from Chelsea in 2014.

Spanish outlet Fichajes understands that Atleti are eager to bring in a new striker in the summer after they offloaded Jackson Martinez to Guangzhou Evergrande midway through the campaign.

The report also suggests that Lukaku is the primary target for the Spanish giants with manager Diego Simeone being a big fan of the Belgian.

Lukaku scored a brace against former club Chelsea as his side sealed a berth in the semifinals of the FA Cup.
