Yarmolenko could join Liverpool

Liverpool seem to be winning the race for Dynamo Kiev's Andiry Yarmolenko. The Ukrainian international has been in fine form this season has been constantly linked to other Premier league clubs. Everton had a bid rejected earlier in the season and Arsenal are supposedly keen. After admitting that he wants to move to England saying, “I cannot reveal many details but yes, I intend to move to England this year.” Liverpool are ready to pounce with a £25 million offer. Arsene Wenger is hoping he can still lure the 26 year old to North London, but it looks like Liverpool will land him.

Do Liverpool need him?

Liverpool are willing to spend big on the right winger, who is undoubtedly a good player, but not what is particularly needed. This season Liverpool have a number of players who can play on the right of midfield. Jordan Ibe, James Milner and Coutinho have all played in that position this season. And as proven in the 3-3 draw against Arsenal and the 5-4 win against Norwich, scoring goals is not the problem; it is conceding goals that is the issue. It would be much better so spend that £25 million on a quality defender, to solidify what is a shaky Liverpool defence. That being said, Liverpool could do with a bit more quality in the wide areas, and if he joins they could play Coutinho in his favoured position behind the striker. And if he joins, Liverpool have an exciting player on their hands.
