Tottenham join Thauvin chase

Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as surprise contenders to land Newcastle United playmaker Florian Thauvin. The 23-year-old is currently plying his trade on loan at French side Marseille.

The Frenchman had been on the radar of several Premier League clubs before he opted to join the Magpies from Marseille last summer.

However, he struggled to live up to his promise and was shipped back to his former club on a temporary basis in January.

BeIN Sports reveals that Spurs are considering a shock move for Thauvin after he impressed on his return to Les Phocéens.

Thauvin has netted two times in 14 league outings for Marseille this season.
